The subject we got given for our FMP is parents. For my FMP I will be creating a model house which is the house that I would like to create for my parents when I'm a little older. For that I will be researching different types of houses (contemporary and traditional) to pick out elements that I like in both of them. One of the sides of the house will have some sort of pattern. I will look at old wallpapers, clothes, carpets, furniture etc. that belongs to my parents to find a suitable design. For this I will be doing some primary research into the past houses we have lived in.
Another thing I will be doing for my FMP is posters and cards. These posters will be to sell the house and the cards will be contact cards. The leaflets will have details about the house and an illustration or a photograph of the house. The cards will have contact detail of the estate agent that is selling the house. To create a logo for the estate agent that will advertise the house I will use my mother and father logo which I have created for this subject.
I will also create a 'sold' or 'to sell' sign to put next to the model house.
The graphic part of this project for example the posters and the logo will be done digitally. The Model house will be made out of wood or thicker card depending on which one works best. To find out which one works best I will make the house out of different materials. Also to find out which house works the best I will create different models.
This is an experiment I did to see the proportion of one of the houses I designed. As you can see the proportions aren't right and need to be redone. The first floor is too high to be just one floor so the height needs to be reduced. The second floor which has the slanted roof is too short to be one floor ( from the short side) and too high from the other side. The entrance is too wide and too high. The height of the two floors should be the same as the entrance. The things I'll need to change is the heights of the floor and the width of the entrance. Another thing I'll have to redo is the angle of the slanted roof. At the moment the angle of the roof is about 45 degrees however I think it should be somewhere near 80 degrees.
